Cognitive Assessment in Autism and ADHD
Why do I need this session?
Do you administer cognitive assessments with children and young people as part of a neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessment?
Do you administer cognitive assessments with children and young people with known autism and/or ADHD?
If you answered "yes" to either of these questions, then this training is for you!
Between us we have administered hundreds of cognitive assessments with children and young people who are either undergoing an assessment for autism or ADHD, or as a separate process to help understand their cognitive profile. We have noticed patterns in our observations which directly map onto the diagnostic criteria. We have learned a lot about adaptations that a neurodivergent young person might benefit from (and when this strays into non-standard administration!) and have finessed our neuroaffirming report writing.
What does the training cover?
We'll be covering a few main topics:
- General considerations and adaptations for assessing neurodivergent children and young people, with a focus on engagement
- Diagnostic observations commonly seen in each subtest, and whether they indicate potential autism or ADHD (or both!)
- Neuroaffirmative report writing
As always, we bring our extensive experience to the training with lots of case examples to bring the ideas to life.
What is the training format?
We are running this half-day training live on Wednesday 25th November at 9.30am. The session will be recorded and the recording will be shared with all who have purchased the training afterwards, for a limited time.
How much does it cost?
We are running an early bird rate for the first 10 spaces booked. The early bird rate is £130, with the standard rate of £150 once these spaces are gone.
Who is the training for?
The session is suitable for Practitioner Psychologists working in a clinical setting. It may be appropriate for trainees and assistant psychologists on the understanding that any assessments they complete remain the clinical responsibility of their supervisor - therefore we recommend this session is only attended with the agreement of their supervisor. Clinicians using other cognitive assessments (WPPSI, WAIS etc) may find much of the content applicable and relevant, but should note that this session will focus on our experience using the WISC-V.
This training assumes some awareness of the WISC-V. The session will not cover information on administration, scoring or interpretation of the WISC-V (please see our previous training "Deep Dive into WISC-V Assessments" for information on this https://exploringminds.co.uk/wisc-v-training).
