About us

Dr Emma Drane | Consultant Clinical Psychologist | BSc (Hons) DClinPsy CPsychol AFBPsS

I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and an associate fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS).  I achieved my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oxford and have specialised ever since in working with people with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism in the NHS. I am now the Lead Clinical Psychologist for Learning Disability services in Oxfordshire, supporting 3 teams and around 25 psychologists as the clinical and professional lead for psychology.

Within my NHS role I have gained considerable experience in assessment and diagnosis of Intellectual Disabilities and Autism Spectrum Conditions. I have since completed further training in assessment of ADHD due to the significant overlap between these conditions. I am also a guest lecturer and external examiner at the University of Oxford.

I work online. Depending on circumstances and distance, I may be able to travel to see people in their own homes or elsewhere in the community. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and yoga.

My passion lies in supporting people to understand themselves better in order to achieve their objectives and maximise their quality of life. I strongly believe in a strengths-based approach to exploring neurodiversity and take a neuroaffirmative stance in all of my work. I have lived experience of neurodivergence, including neurodivergence in my family. I look forward to speaking with you about your needs.
