What to expect

Every person is different, and we treat each of our clients as an individual whilst adhering to professional and evidence-based guidelines.  We appreciate that making a decision to undergo assessment can be daunting, and our goal is to make the whole process as easy and comfortable as possible.

We strongly believe that neurodivergence is simply "difference", not "disorder" (even though the diagnostic criteria have yet to catch up with this!) We are strengths-focused and celebrate neurodiversity, without diminishing the struggles that can come with being neurodivergent. We are non-judgemental, empathic, and curious. We hold a strong anti-racist stance, and we are allies of the LGBTQ+ community.

Once you have contacted us we will be in touch to find out more and ensure we are the right people to help you.  We then offer a detailed consultation to discuss your needs in more detail. The initial consultation will guide which assessment tools are most appropriate. You can then decide whether to proceed with the assessment.

Whilst the particular assessment tools are guided by your needs (see the separate pages on different assessments for more information), the process is always the same should you decide to proceed.  A clinical assessment will be carried out which gathers information about your early development, education and work history, health and general functioning.  This might be carried out with you and/or a family member who knows you well if appropriate. We have a number of condition-specific assessment tools available to us, and these will be explained to you once the most appropriate assessments have been identified. We are highly skilled at using robust, up to date and evidence-based assessments, without adding unnecessary administrative burden (and cost!) to the process.

Information from all of these sources will be synthesised into a comprehensive and professional report, which will offer conclusions and recommendations based on the evidence gathered.  If there is a need for ongoing support this can be discussed and we can recommend avenues to explore this if necessary.
